Skyrim itself contains several challenging secret enemies to defeat. This guide will help players located the Dragon Priests of Skyrim.
The Dragon Priests were once servants to the dragons that roamed the lands of Skyrim. These enemies are amongst the most difficult to defeat. High-level players may even struggle in defeating them. Coffins are hidden around the land and once the player approaches them, the Dragon Priests will attack. They move very quickly, making it difficult to land a hit on them. Once the Dragon Priest is defeated, they will collapse to the floor and turn into a pile of smoke and ash. Players can collect loot from their remaining clothing. There’s a total of 8 Dragon Priests in the base game. This guide will be focusing on the 8 Dragon Priests in the base game.
Where To Find The 8 Dragon Priest in Skyrim
- Hevnoraak: This Dragon Priest can be located in Valthume. He is the final boss of the Evil in Waiting Quest. He bears a mask that makes it immune to poisons. He also has a weapon that can create a giant wall of lightning so bring shock resistance. Wait until he runs out of magic then charge in to attack him. Defeating him will grant the player the Mask of Hevnoraak Krosis: This Dragon Priest can be found at the clifftop dragon lair named Shearpoint. His weapon of choice is a powerful staff that shoots out fireballs and ice magic. Be careful, if the player hasn’t progressed far enough, they may have to fight a dragon alongside this boss. In order to defeat him, players can use Fus Ro Dah to blow him off the top of the mountain, although they will have to find his body on the ground. Defeating him will grant the player the Mask of Krosis Morokei: This Dragon Priest can be found in Labyrinthian during the Staff of Magnus quest. To defeat him, climb up to the higher ground and attack him with a bow. Morokei moves very slowly, so keep distance as he approaches. Also, hiding behind pillars will block his spells. Use health potions if HP is dropping low. Defeating him will grant the player the Mask of Morokei. Nahkriin: This Dragon Priest can be found guarding Aludin’s portal to Sovngarge on top of Skuldafn during the World-Eater’s Eyrie side quest. Defeating him will give the player the key to open the portal and the Mask of Nakkriin. Keep track of the character’s stamina and run in close and breathe fire on him. Circle around him to avoid being damaged and keep doing this until he’s dead. Otar The Mad: This Dragon Priest can be located in the Nordic ruin of Ragnvald during the Ragnvald quest. Players will need to defeat his two keepers first before he will appear. Bring strong armor and equip the character with Fortify Magic Resistance items. Use arrows to defeat him from a distance. Beating him will grant the player the Mask of Otar The Mad. Rahgot: This Dragon Priest can be found to the southeastern ruin of Forelhost during the Seige on the Dragon Cult quest. Before reaching him, players must defeat his four guardian draugrs. Aim to cut off each of his limbs with thy blade and make sure to bring along magic resistance. It also helps to get the blessing of the Atronach Stone, as this provides 50% resistance to magical attacks. Defeat him to get the Mask of Rahgot. Vokun: This Dragon Priest can be found in High Gate Ruins during the A Scroll for Anska quest. During this quest, the player teams up with an AI character, so they don’t have to worry too much about killing him. The AI character will fight alongside the player, making this the easiest of the Dragon Priest. While Vokun’s attention is drawn to Anska, use this as an opportunity to attack until he’s defeated. Ths player will be rewarded the Mask of Vokun. Volsung: The final of the Dragon Priests can be found outside of Volskygge in northwest Skyrim. The quest to do this in is also called Volskygge. Players can actually skip the entire dungeon to get to him by climbing the exterior of the mountain. Once the player reaches him, bringing along a housecarl will make this fight much easier. Use Magic regen and let the housecarl focus on doing the majority of the major attacks. Keep healing her so she doesn’t go down and attack with a bow. Defeating this Dragon Priest will give the player the Mask of Volsung.
Aside from the main 8 base-game Dragon Priests, an additional 5 can be found only through purchasing the Dragonborn DLC. Although, many special editions of Skyrim exist now with all the DLC included. These are amongst the toughest enemies in the game. Defeating them all will give the player the mask of Konahrik. Using this mask will summon a spectral Dragon Priest as an additional boss fight. Little did bits like these are why people come back and put thousands of hours into Skyrim each time. It’s a game the heavily rewards its players in immersive gameplay and benefits like stronger magic, weapons, and armor. There’s a reason the game has been ported over so many times, as it stands to be one of the greatest open-world RPGs’ to ever exist.
