Avengers: Endgame tie-in merchandise teases a rematch between the Avengers and Thanos - with Captain Marvel joining in the fight. Anticipation has never been higher for the fourth Avengers movie, which is expected to be the swan song of several major Marvel heroes, including Captain America and Iron Man. The first trailer confirmed that it’ll explore the aftermath of Avengers: Infinity War, in which Thanos wiped out half the life in the universe with a snap of his fingers; but it also offered tantalizing hints that the surviving Avengers have a plan to put things right.

The plot of Avengers: Endgame is a closely-guarded secret, with Kevin Feige even suggesting the trailers and TV spots will only use footage from the first 15-20 minutes. Even the official merchandise is currently being held back; Hasbro didn’t reveal their Avengers: Endgame Marvel Legends waves at last month’s New York Toy Fair. Still, that level of secrecy simply can’t be maintained for much longer; by the end of the month, toy details will surely be appearing in catalogs across the world.

New images of Avengers: Endgame LEGO playsets have made their way onto Reddit (via CBR) thanks to user SpiderJaz. The first shows what appears to be a major action sequence, in which Thanos and his Outriders invade the Avengers Compound. Only a few of the Avengers are included in the playset, notably Iron Man, Nebula, Hulk, and Captain Marvel. Nebula is wearing her new Advanced Tech Avengers uniform. The second playset shows Iron Man’s Hall of Armors being attacked by Outriders as well. This is even more surprising, given the Hall of Armors was destroyed in Iron Man 3.

It’s important to note that LEGO playsets and tie-in merchandise aren’t always a reliable guide. A LEGO playset for Doctor Strange, for example, teased that the cosmic entity known as Shuma-Gorath would invade the Sanctum Sanctorum; meanwhile, merchandise for Avengers: Infinity War showed the Hulk tearing his way out of the Hulkbuster armor, an idea that was dropped from the film. In this case, though, the playsets actually fit with the little that’s known to date.

It’s generally believed that Avengers: Endgame will involve a degree of time travel, with the Advanced Tech outfits really being Quantum Realm survival suits; as teased in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man & the Wasp, in theory the Quantum Realm can be used to facilitate time travel. Notice that only one of the four Avengers in the Compound playset is wearing an Advanced Tech uniform; it’s possible that the others have already entered the Quantum Realm, and that these remaining heroes are serving as a rear guard. After all, if the Avengers are indeed attempting to avert or undo the snap, it makes sense for Thanos to head back to Earth to stop them.

Meanwhile, the time travel theory neatly explains the Hall of Armors. Although that was destroyed in Iron Man 3, the Avengers have presumably traveled back in time to before its destruction - but the Outriders are hot on their trail, perhaps even managing to break past the Compound’s defenders and pursue the Avengers into the past. If these LEGO playsets are accurate, then they offer some important hints as to the plot of Avengers: Endgame. They confirm that the Avengers have a plan, that Thanos launches an attack upon the Avengers in an attempt to stop them, and that the plan involves a degree of time travel.
