The fourth season of this hit TNT show came to a close this year, and it definitely left us on the edge of our seats. Animal Kingdom follows our favorite crime family as they complete complex and high-stake robberies, while also dealing with the authorities and some tense infighting.
With so much drama and action happening in this show, it might be hard to keep track of all of the badass jobs they’ve pulled off over the course of the show’s run. So, we decided to make a list. Here is every heist in Animal Kingdom ranked according to how they were pulled off and just how badass they are.
The Brewery Heist (Season 2)
Baz joins a brewery tour while Pope sneaks in the back. Baz sneaks off, and the two break into the office. Craig and Deran ride quads through the tunnel and hand them their tools through the vent. J awaits in his truck, and then sets a fire to the dumpster outside the brewery.
While the owner is distracted, Pope and Baz hook up the safe to the back of a quad and they make a getaway through the tunnels. This heist isn’t perfect, because, well, the safe is really heavy. Oh yeah, the safe was also empty.
The Ship Heist (Season 2)
After sitting out the church heist, Craig plans his own heist. He lays down the groundwork, and honestly, we’re impressed. He gets a job as a waiter for a cruise ship where he learns the ropes to disables its connections. The wedding is also between a rich couple, so the guests are pretty wealthy.
Craig enlists Deran and some of their friends, things go according to plan, and they steal a ton of jewelry and cash. However, there was a finger cut off, which wasn’t exactly part of the plan. But hey, for Craig’s first time, it was pretty genius.
The Airplane Heist (Season 3)
Remember when the boys robbed an airplane? We do, and it was pretty awesome. With Deran running this job, he enlists the boys, Frankie, and Bill. Deran and J hide in body bags with oxygen tanks and are enclosed in storage containers. Then Frankie delivers the “medical supplies” to the plane.
Deran and J escape their confinements and place the $800,000 into bags before diving out of the plane. If you didn’t think they were badass, you do now. This heist would’ve placed higher on the list if Deran and J didn’t end up in the middle of the desert.
The Rich Guy’s House Heist (Season 3)
It’s just Frankie and Craig teaming up for this one, but we still loved every second of it. In fact, this heist was almost a little too simple for the amount of money they got out of it. Basically, some rich people were moving, and Frankie and Craig become the “movers.”
They are pretty much given access to the whole house and all of the stuff in it. In Frankie’s words, when Craig asks what they’re going to steal: “everything, baby, everything”. And boy, do they.
The Statue Heist (Season 4)
Craig and Frankie were the masterminds here. You remember the giant statue that the douchey rich guy wanted to buy, right? Well, we loved this heist because Craig finally got to prove how inventive he can be. He spray paints the statue and vandalizes the entire building. Why, you might ask?
Well, Craig was convinced that the owner would move the statue afterwards. They did. Deran and J then become construction workers to divert security, and Craig and Pope hijack the huge truck (statue included). It was simply flawless. Too bad their money didn’t come through because of that dude.
The Festival Heist (Season 4)
J’s first idea went pretty well (until his old flame hits his uncles with a semi, but, you know, stuff happens). You’ll remember the cute blonde girl that J goes to school with, and how he befriended her and her mother to get an in on the festival she was organizing. He gets his uncles security passes, and they use an ambulance to hijack the soundboards.
It’s pretty clever, actually, because who’s going to stop an ambulance? Let’s not forget that Craig gasses that bus and steals all of their jewelry and cash. Pretty funny, and pretty effective.
The Supplement Store Heist (Season 3)
Pope crawls underneath the store (which is really a drug front) and into the storage room. The police watch the boys after Smurf’s arrest, so Deran and J sit in a car outside. J heads into the bank next door while Deran distracts the guards by calling the police about a possible robber and ramming his car into another.
While they’ve created a huge scene, Pope drills for money and Craig locks the men in the store. Craig pulls up a giant truck and they hitch the giant safe to it. Honestly, it’s pretty flawless, and it’s exceptionally cheeky.
The Safety Deposit Box Heist (Season 4)
This job was also pretty cheeky. We were all wondering why J was so interested in that girl from the diner, right? Well, he steals her phone. Craig and Pope break into a (closed) bank and make the manager grant them entrance to the safety deposit boxes.
They use a super fancy contraption and drill open all of the boxes, stealing the illegal cash inside. If it wasn’t for the manager hooking up with an employee (and Pope’s emotional breakdown), this job would’ve been flawless. We also loved the kidnapping without the kidnappee even knowing.
The Church Heist (Season 2)
We’re pretty uneasy about this one, because this heist involved taking advantage of the woman Pope fell for. The boys rip off the church’s charity fundraiser which none of them feel great about, but they do it anyways.
This job is also pretty slick, and they get their in through Pope’s relationship with Amy. Yes, this is the one where they totally soundproof the entire room and drill out the whole safe from the floor and wheel it into the back of Deran’s van. It’s pretty genius, and boy was that janitor surprised.
The Camp Pendleton Heist (Season 1)
You’ll remember this one starts off with a game of paintball. Yeah, this is the job where they literally rob a military base. The boys ‘play paintball’ on the base, then sneak off to rob a shipment of cash by replacing mounds of cash with fake bills. They then transport the real cash in waste barrels and drive off into the sunset.
This was intense, because, well, it’s a military base. However, the boys pulled it off. While this was the first big heist, we still give it a silver medal because we absolutely loved how badass it was.
The Gold Bunker Heist (Season 4)
While this arguably isn’t the best heist because of how horrible it went, it was still genius and perfectly executed. Smurf’s inside knowledge and knowing the lay of the land was immaculate. The boys dig through a tunnel that heads into the bottom of the bunker until they find the huge stacks of golden bars.
Pretty seamless, probably their most seamless, actually. Then we find out it was Smurf’s suicide mission, and this mission becomes an absolute nightmare for everyone. At least they got the gold? As heart-wrenching as it was, we’ll never forget this one.
