Disney+ will debut this year with thousands of TV shows and movies, and jere’s every single thing we know that will be on the platform. As it becomes par for the course for networks and studios to create their own streaming platforms in an effort to keep up with Netflix, The Walt Disney Company may prove to be the true competitor to the streaming giants.

With a launch date set for November 12, 2019, in North America, Disney+ has already made lofty promises of vast amounts of content and intriguing original movies and television. Their catalog already includes the enviable library of Disney works, but now the House of Mouse has the ability to include key 20th Century Fox titles thanks to their already infamous acquisition of the company.

Thanks to a Disney+ trial run available to users in the Netherlands, a full list of films and TV shows available at launch has been revealed. However, there is also a whole lot more to come from the service, which will be available on web browsers as well as Android and iOS devices. All the Disney favorites will be there, as well as Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar. What has most fans excited, though, are the upcoming exclusives.

MARVEL

Marvel Studios may be the jewel in the crown of Disney in the 21st century. Over the course of the past 11 years, they have catapulted themselves to the top of the box office time and time again, becoming the highest-grossing franchise of all time. The upcoming Marvel TV series exclusive to Disney+ could be the biggest thing that entices skeptical audiences to subscribe. Here are all the completed Marvel projects - movies and TV shows - that will stream on Disney+:

  • Agent Carter Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ant-Man Ant-Man and the Wasp Avengers Avengers: Age of Ultron Avengers: Infinity War Avengers: Endgame Black Panther Captain America Captain America: The Winter Soldier Captain America: Civil War Captain Marvel Doctor Strange Guardians of the Galaxy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 The Incredible Hulk Inhumans Iron Man Iron Man 2 Iron Man 3 Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe Marvel Super Hero Adventures: Frost Fight Marvel Rising: Initiation Marvel’s Rocket and Groot Marvel’s Spider-Man (Shorts) Marvel Super Hero Adventures Marvel’s Storyboards Marvel Ultimate Comics Thor Thor: The Dark World Thor: Ragnarok

Hawkeye

A series focused on Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2019. The plot will follow Clint Barton after the events of Avengers: Endgame, with him passing the Hawkeye mantle down to Kate Bishop. Hailee Steinfeld is rumored to be the top choice to play the role. Mad Men writer Jonathan Igla will act as showrunner, and Hawkeye is set to premiere in late 2021.

Loki

Tom Hiddleston will return to play the God of Mischief in this limited series, which will follow Loki as he screws around with the universe after stealing the Tesseract during the 2012 events of Avengers: Endgame. Production is set to kick off in early 2020, with Sex Education director Kate Herron in charge. Loki is set to debut in early 2021.

Marvel 616

This anthology documentary series from Marvel New Media (in partnership with the Supper club) has been described as exploring “the intersection between Marvel’s rich legacy of stories, characters and creators and the world outside your window.” The series promises a deep dive into “rich historical, cultural and societal context that has become inseparable from stories of the Marvel Universe.” Marvel’s 616 will be available to watch within the first year of the Disney+ launch.

Marvel’s Hero Project

Marvel’s Hero Project, produced by Marvel New Media in partnership with MaggieVision Productions, will focus on the real-life young heroes making a difference in their towns and communities, with Marvel celebrating the good work they do. It’s another example of Marvel’s growing influence, not to mention how Disney+ will allow them to dominate outside of cinema. The series will be available to view at launch.

Moon Knight

During D23 Expo 2019, Marvel Studios announced that a series centered around Marc Spector, also known as Moon Knight, was in development for Disney+. Often characterized as Marvel’s attempt at a Batman-style hero, Moon Knight is a former marine turned mercenary who became a street-level vigilante after receiving a second shot at life from the Egyptian God of the moon, Khonshu. While no showrunner, casting, or release date has been announced for Moon Knight, this would be the MCU’s first Jewish central hero.

Ms. Marvel

Kamala Khan became an instant fan-favorite when she was announced as the new Ms. Marvel, taking over from Carol Danvers and becoming Marvel Comics’ first Pakistani-American Muslim hero. Bisha K. Ali has been hired to write and serve as showrunner to this Disney+ exclusive, which currently does not have a release date but could feature appearances from Captain Marvel.

She-Hulk

A long-time favorite from the comics, Jennifer Walters is the cousin of Bruce Banner who gained Hulk-like powers via a blood transfusion. She-Hulk is also a lawyer who frequently offers legal help and advice to fellow heroes, although she has also been part of the Avengers. This series is currently in development at Disney+, with some fans hoping for a superpowered version of legal dramas like The Good Wife.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Another Marvel series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will reunite Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson. Empire writer and producer Malcolm Spellman was hired to write the limited series. Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie are confirmed to star, with Stan comparing their dynamic to that of buddy comedies like Midnight Run and 48 Hrs. It was announced to consist of six episodes directed by Kari Skogland, with Emily VanCamp and Daniel Brühl set to reprise their roles as Sharon Carter/Agent 13 and Baron Helmut Zemo, respectively. The show will debut in summer 2020.

WandaVision

Wanda Maximoff, as played by Elizabeth Olsen, will get her own TV show alongside Paul Bettany’s Vision, which is said will focus on their romantic relationship. Teyonah Parris will appear as an adult version of Monica Rambeau (the character was previously seen as a child in Captain Marvel), while Randall Park and Kat Dennings will return to their roles as Jimmy Woo and Darcy Lewis, respectively. Early concept art has suggested that the series could follow the House of M arc from the comics and have a 1950s retrofuturist aesthetic. Jac Schaeffer, a screenwriter on Captain Marvel and the upcoming Black Widow movie, will serve as showrunner for WandaVision and write the first episode. The series will premiere in spring 2021 and tie into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

What if…?

What if Peggy Carter had tested the super serum on herself and not Steve Rogers? Or Loki was the one to wield Thor’s hammer? Marvel’s animated series, What If…?, will provide insight into alternate universe scenarios like this and many others from the MCU. Some of the franchise’s biggest names will provide voice work on this show, from Hayley Atwell to Josh Brolin to Tom Hiddleston and much more. The 23-episode run will premiere sometime in summer 2021.

STAR WARS

The Disney acquisition of Lucasfilm has seen the Star Wars franchise revived for a new age, with Star Wars: The Force Awakens standing as one of the top five highest-grossing movies of all time. Not only are audiences now spoiled with a new Star Wars film almost every year, but there have also been great new additions to the animated canon and now fans will be treated to the first-ever major live-action Star Wars series in the form of The Mandalorian. All that and there’s even more to come.

  • LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles – Clash of the Skywalkers LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles – Escape from the Jedi Temple LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles – Race for the Holocrons LEGO Star Wars: The Yoda Chronicles – Raid on Coruscant Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Solo: A Star Wars Story Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi Star Wars: Forces of Destiny Star Wars: Rebels Star Wars: Resistance Star Wars: The Clone Wars (including a new season exclusive to Disney+)

The Mandalorian

Arguably the most anticipated original Disney+ series of the lot, The Mandalorian represents the historic first step into live-action television for Star Wars (not including the Holiday Special). With Jon Favreau (The Lion King) and Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) at the helm, the directors attached to the first season include Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi and actress Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom). Set before the rise of the First Order and after the fall of the Galactic Empire, the series will follow a lone gunfighter “in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic”. The all-star cast includes Pedro Pascal in the lead, as well as Cina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, and none other than Werner Herzog. The Mandalorian will be available at launch.

Untitled Cassian Andor Series

Reprising his role as the rebel spy Cassian Andor, Diego Luna returns to the Star Wars universe with a series that will take place in the lead-up to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Luna will be joined in his adventures by Alan Tudyk as the robot K-2SO, and the show promises to be a “rousing spy thriller [that]  explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions”, according to the press release. Stephen Schiff from FX’s The Americans will serve as showrunner and executive producer. The series does not yet have a release date but is expected to begin filming in 2020.

Untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi Series

D23 2019 Expo guests were surprised by the announcement that Ewan McGregor would be returning to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for an upcoming miniseries exclusive to Disney+. Kathleen Kennedy has said the scripts for the series are already completed and that the show would begin shooting in 2020. It’s set to take place eight years after Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.

PIXAR

Given the immense popularity of Pixar’s output, having their back-catalog as a Disney+ streaming exclusive is certain to entice more than a few subscribers. The company’s worldwide grosses are close to $6 billion overall and their work remains popular with all generations, as evidenced by the billion dollars made by Toy Story 4 this year.

DISNEY/FOX MOVIES

Disney has 80 years of movies to offer audiences, which is an alluring prospect in and of itself. However, the addition of some of 20th Century Fox’s key titles has made their catalog more appealing than ever, especially for families. Not only will Disney+ include animated classics like Aladdin, The Lion King, and The Little Mermaid, but subscribers can expect hidden gems like The Horse Whisperer, cult classics like Hocus Pocus, and Disney Channel favorites like Camp Rock and Cadet Kelly. It may end up being the most comprehensive catalog of Disney content made readily available for audiences.

29 Dates

YA author Melissa de la Cruz’s latest novel, 29 Dates, was acquired by Disney during a tough bidding war and is being fast-tracked for development for Disney+. The book, which has yet to be published, centers on a Korean exchange student who moves to America and is set up on a number of matchmaker dates by her pushy parents. It’s already been compared to To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, which was a smash success for Netflix.

Three Men and a Baby

Although primarily recognized as an actor, Lenoard Nimoy directed multiple feature films throughout his career, and one of them was Three Men and a Baby. It starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson. A remake is currently in development for Disney+.

Cheaper By the Dozen

A Disney+ remake of Cheaper By The Dozen is in the works, which will make the new film the third movie adaptation of Frank Bunker Gilbreth Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey’s novel of the same name. While the original version released in 1950, audiences nowadays will recognize the 2003 Steve Martin version the most.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

In 2010, Fox released an adaptation of Jeff Kinney’s best-selling novel, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which became an enormous success. Disney+ wants to recapture that success in a remake, though no details are currently known about the project.

Father of the Bride

Another Disney+ remake of a Steve Martin movie is Father of the Bride, which was based on Edward Streeter’s novel of the same name as well as the 1950 film adaptation.

Flora & Ulysses

Disney recently completed shooting on a family drama based on Kate DiCamillo’s novel Flora and Ulysses, which centers on a girl who develops an unlikely friendship with a squirrel who, through a near-death experience, has developed superpowers. Alyson Hannigan and Danny Pudi star, while Arrested Development writer Brad Copeland is on screenplay duties.

The Grimm Legacy

Polly Shulman’s young adult book series The Grimm Legacy follows a group of teens who work at an old-style lending library that lends magical items to people from the magical Grimm collection. Tolkien screenwriter David Gleeson is attached to pen this adaptation, but little else is known about it.

Home Alone

Home Alone is one of the most iconic children’s movies of the modern era, and Disney wants to bring some of that fame to its streaming service. No details are known about the planned remake, or if any of the original cast and crew will return in either the same or different roles, but whatever happens, the movie will likely generate a lot of attention given the series’ popularity.

Lady and the Tramp

Disney continues its recent tradition of live-action remakes of their animated classics, with this take on the 1955 film being the first exclusive to debut on the streaming service. Lady & the Tramp will be directed by Charlie Bean (The Lego Ninjago Movie) and has a screenplay by indie icon Andrew Bujalski (Support the Girls). The voice cast includes Thor: Ragnarok’s Tessa Thompson as Lady and The Leftovers’ Justin Theroux as Tramp, with appearances from Janelle Monae, Sam Elliott, and Yvette Nicole Brown. The dogs won’t be CGI here. It’s all real and highly trained canines in the main roles. Lady & the Tramp will premiere with the service’s launch.

Magic Camp

Adam DeVine and Jeffrey Tambor star as magicians who mentor at Magic Camp, teaching young kids all the tricks of the trade. Mark Waters of Mean Girls fame is directing the film.

Night at the Museum

Shawn Levy and Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museum, based on the novel of the same name by Milan Trenc, became an astounding success when it released in 2007. It spawned two sequels, both of which became runaway successes. And now, Disney+ will remake the movie, though it remains to be seen if the film will closely resemble the movie series or the book.

Noelle

In Noelle, Anna Kendrick and Barry’s Bill Hader play the Kringle siblings, with the latter in line to be the new Santa Claus. When the pressure gets to him, it’s up to his sister Noelle to find him and save Christmas. The cast also includes Billy Eichner (The Lion King) and Shirley MacLaine. Noelle will premiere within the first year of the Disney+ launch.

Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against the Universe

The Disney Channel series Phineas and Ferb was a long-time favorite on the network, and Disney+ are reviving it for a feature-length adventure. The movie, executive produced by Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, the show’s creators, will send the stepbrothers on an intergalactic journey across the galaxy to find their sister Candace, who has been abducted by aliens. The entire original cast is set to return to their voice roles. The film will be available within the first year of the Disney+ launch.

Safety

Inspired by the true story of former Clemson safety Ray McElrathbey, the drama Safety will be another inspiring sports movie courtesy of Disney. Production began on the film last year but no release date has been given yet.

Sister Act 3

Disney’s Sister Act movies in the 1990s were huge box office successes, and they plan on continuing the story on Disney+. Regina Y. Hicks and Karin Gist have been hired to write the script for Sister Act 3, which does not yet have a release date.

Stargirl

Based on the critically-acclaimed New York Times best-selling Young Adult novel of the same name by Jerry Spinelli, Stargirl is a teen coming-of-age story about an average young man whose mundane high school life is turned upside down by the arrival of a new student who rejects social mores in favor of her own way of living. Julia Hart will direct and America’s Got Talent winner Grace VanderWaal will play the eponymous Stargirl. The film is set to premiere in 2020.

The Secret Society of Second Born Royals

Following in Disney’s proud tradition of princess stories, original contemporary fantasy film The Secret Society of Second-Born Royals will focus on a rebellious princess who discovers that, as second in line to the throne, she has been gifted with superpowers and belongs to a secret society founded to keep peace throughout the kingdom. Andi Mack star Peyton Elizabeth Lee takes on the lead role.

Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made

Based on the book Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made by Stephan Pastis, the film Timmy Failure will be directed by the Oscar winner Tom McCarthy, best known for Spotlight (although he also was one of the screenwriters on the Disney film Christopher Robin). The children’s comedy tells the story of Timmy and his polar bear friend who operate a detective agency together. The film will premiere within the first year of the Disney+ launch.

Togo

Based on a true story, Togo takes place in 1925 and follows the difficult journey of a group of people living in the Alaskan tundra as they struggle with an epidemic of diphtheria. The only way to cure the problem is for someone to venture to the nearest doctor hundreds of miles away. The only man for the job is Leonhard Seppala (played by Willem Dafoe) and his sled dog Togo. Following in Disney’s proud tradition of movies about sled dogs (see Eight Below and Snow Dogs), Togo will premiere in the first year of the Disney+ launch.

DISNEY/FOX TV SERIES

The television output of Disney+ is heavily tilted towards the many years of Disney Channel fare, including animated spinoff series of popular movies and the shows that helped to spawn the careers of people like Miley Cyrus. However, the true jewel in the crown here may come thanks to Fox, because Disney+ will be the exclusive streaming home of The Simpsons. Of course, there are plenty of original TV shows coming to Disney+, too.

Hosted by Angela Kinsey from The Office, Be Our Chef will invite families from across America to compete in a Disney inspired cooking competition, wherein the finalists will have the opportunity to create a dish for the Disney Parks. The show will be available to watch within the first year of the launch.

Cinema Relics: Iconic Art of the Movies

Cinema Relics (this is the working title and is subject to change) is an anthology series that will take a look at the props and costumes of some of Disney’s most iconic films, from Pirates of the Caribbean to Tron to Who Framed Roger Rabbit?. Film historian and collector Dan Lanigan will host the show, which will be available within the first year of the Disney+ launch.

Diary of a Female President

Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez will executive produce this original series about a 12-year-old Cuban-American girl dealing with the pressures of middle school and the struggles that will mold her future life as the American President. Newcomer Tess Romero will play the young Elena while Rodriguez herself will be her adult counterpart. Diary of a Female President will premiere within the first year of the service’s launch.

Earthkeepers

From the creators of Netflix’s award-winning culinary series Chef’s Table, Earthkeepers will be a nature documentary focusing on conservationists around the world and the animals they work to look after. Disney describes Earthkeepers as “a cinematic documentary series that enters the adventurous lives of the people changing the way we see the animal kingdom.” It will be available within the second year of the platform’s launch.

Encore!

The Good Place and Frozen star Kristen Bell will be the executive producer on this documentary about a group of former high school musical cast members who reunite to perform the shows they did as teenagers. Imagine High School Musical with a nostalgic twist. Encore! promises help from Broadway’s best and big performances of some musical classics, and it will be available to watch on launch.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

When the Disney Channel screened the TV movie High School Musical in 2006, few could have predicted how big a deal it would be. It became the most-watched Disney Channel Original Movie upon its premiere, its soundtrack was the highest-selling album of the year, it spawned two sequels (one of which got a theatrical release), and it helped to make Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens bona fide stars. The ten-episode scripted series that will premiere on Disney+ has been described as a meta take on the material, centering on a group of students who are performing their own production of High School Musical. The series will be available at launch.

Ink & Paint

Based on the book of the same name by Mindy Johnson, the documentary series Ink & Paint will tell the oft-overlooked story of the women who worked in the animation department of Disney, helping to create some of the studio’s most beloved films all while breaking down gender barriers in the male-dominated field of animation. It will be available within the second year of the platform’s launch.

Into the Unknown: Making Frozen 2

Frozen remains Disney’s most commercially successful animated film ever, and with the much-awaited sequel on the way this year, Disney+ are giving an entire multi-episode documentary series to the making of Frozen 2. This series hints at future documentaries dedicated to the making of other Disney titles and more. It will premiere within the first year of Disney+.

Life and Deaf

Oscar-winning actress Marlee Matlin is set to star and executive produce this new half-hour family comedy about a boy growing up in the 1970s with deaf parents. Acting as their ears and mouth to the world, he gets into all sorts of mischief as he helps them navigate the world.

Lizzie McGuire

A continuation of the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire is happening on Disney+, with Hilary Duff reprising her role as the eponymous character alongside original series creator Terri Minsky serving as showrunner. It will take place decades later, with an adult Lizzie living her life in New York City.

Love, Simon

Based on the 2018 Fox movie that became a sleeper success at the box office, Disney+ will turn Love, Simon into an original series. The story follows Simon Spier, a closeted gay kid dealing with every day high school love, the anonymous classmate he’s fallen in love with online, and the threat of blackmail. It’s a big deal for Disney to develop a series with an openly gay protagonist, especially since the movie was notably the first film by a major Hollywood studio to focus on a gay teen romance.

Magic of the Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will get its time in the spotlight with National Geographic (another subsidiary Disney acquired with the Fox merger) offering an insight behind the scenes of the park’s animals and the people who look after them. It will premiere within the first year of the Disney+ launch.

(Re)Connect

The documentary series (Re)Connect will follow a family as they disconnect from their busy lives “in order to address a relatable issue that’s driving a wedge between them. With the help of a specialized expert, each family will go on a unique journey to confront the family’s dilemma head on.” It’s a foray into TLC/Dr. Drew style family therapy reality TV. The show will premiere in the first year of the launch.

Rogue Trip

The celebrated journalist Bob Woodruff will travel the world with his son, Mark, visiting places often overlooked by the average tourist – “the roguish, often misunderstood and frequently overlooked corners of the world whose hidden corners surprise, amaze and inspire." Rogue Trip will be available to watch within the first year of the Disney+ launch.

Shop Class

A new competition series featuring teams of budding young scientists and engineers, Shop Class will pit students against one another to design, build and test new devices, with a panel of experts judging the final product in a battle to be crowned Shop Class Champs. Think The Great British Bake Off with a STEM make-over. The series will be available within the first year of the platform’s launch.

The Imagineering Story

The work of Disney’s Imagineers has helped to craft decades of the company’s most beloved and iconic theme park attractions. With Disneyland and its various theme park siblings launching into a new era of industry-wide domination thanks to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, it makes sense that Disney+ would want to focus in on that work, if only for promotional purposes (it’s also a proud part of Disney’s history as Walt Disney himself would present television specials that promoted the park and his various enterprises, winning him a few Emmys along the way). This documentary promises to chronicle over 65 years of Walt Disney Imagineering, with new behind-the-scenes footage of Disney’s parks and interviews with the people who made them. The documentary will be available to view on launch.

The Mighty Ducks Series

A TV series based on the Mighty Ducks films is in development for Disney+, from the original movie’s writer and producers, Steven Brill and Jordan Kerner.

The Proud Family

The original Disney Channel animated series The Proud Family is continuing over a decade later on Disney+, with the show having been revived with a season 3 renewal.

The Sandlot Series

The Sandlot is an iconic coming-of-age film from David Mickey Evans, and Disney+ plans to continue the story that left off with the movie with a TV series that brings the original cast back.

The World According to Jeff Goldblum

Beloved actor Jeff Goldblum has giddily embraced his meme status over the past few years, and now Disney+ are taking advantage of that with the wonderfully titled series The World According to Jeff Goldblum. The show will follow Goldblum as he goes full Bill Nye in explaining the wonders of science, history and the stories behind the familiar objects that fill our lives. The series will be available to watch on launch.
