You might have heard about Ground Zero ROMs (GZOSP). Some most popular developers like Tesla, Validus, and Tipsy have brought us the popular custom ROMs. This is a unique technology that doesn’t need you to start from scratch as you can use it straight from AOSP to design custom ROMs. They have also provided the Android Oreo repository for it.
The Ground Zero open Source Project has the aim to provide custom ROM developers a great point to start with. They can get both AOSP code and the CAF (i.e. Code Aurora Forum), Qualcomm’s repository which is great for non-Nexus devices with code to design all devices.
The developer team requests you to not rebrand your developed ROMs the unofficial versions of Tipsy, Tesla or Validus builds until they release the official version for the public use.
Features of GZOSP Repository:
- It consists of the AOSP feature like System UI Tuner
- All the basic features of other custom ROMs. These include reboot menu, Quick settings, Night mode, and Brightness slider control.
- Android Oreo Specific features.
- Simple big fixes that Google won’t be pushing out the next monthly patch.
- It’s open source and buildable for anyone, builds from it already started popping up.
- You can visit the Project page and the list of Devices.
GZOSP does not include the set of custom features like the Tips, Tesla, and Validus. It will not include ant Validus wallpapers, Wolves den custom settings section and the built-in dark system themes. There is also a reason that they want to provide a base for the developers to create their own special ROMs.
The GZOSP repository allows you to provide Android Oreo 8.0 build with above features. These also include custom ROMs features. For paranoid android the lineageOS 15.0 act as a base. You can check the list of Devices for CAF codes to run on the non-Nexus devices. So by this way, you will not be limited to Google based AOSP.
As per the assurance of GZOSP developers, it will keep it updated. This is a kind of starting point to create Validus repository which is based on Android Oreo 8.0. In case if you have any doubts regarding the GZOSP (Ground Zero open Source Project) then you can write us in the comments section.
