Long before HBO’s Watchmen television series officially begun, fans knew there would be too many sly references to the graphic novel and feature film to count. Now that the first episodes have aired, it can be confirmed: Easter Egg hunters will have their hands full with Watchmen. While the TV show is better described as a Watchmen ‘remix’ than direct sequel, that still provides opportunities in every scene to give fans a nod, especially to the original Watchmen graphic novel written by Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons....

The recent announcement of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, which will be crashing into theatres on August 6th 2021, called into question the status of the previous big screen outing of Task Force X. 2016’s Suicide Squad made a lot of money but was critically savaged and Gunn’s movie is reportedly intended to be a reboot of the franchise, complete with different characters. Now is as good a time as any to look back at the superior Extended Cut of the original film, as it arguably could have gone over better with audiences and meant a reboot wasn’t needed....

Edgar Wright has cast Anya Taylor-Joy in his psychological horror-thriller, Last Night in Soho. Wright’s last film, the crime thriller Baby Driver, was one of his biggest successes yet. The movie, which synchronizes a catchy soundtrack with high-octane action to tell a compelling story, was regarded as an artistic breakthrough for the filmmaker and grossed $227 million at the worldwide box office (a record for Wright), back in summer 2017. Wright has since gotten to work on writing Baby Driver 2 and, by the look of things, full intends to make the sequel at some point in the future....
